Hi all,
I love Halloween. I never dress up for it. I thought, perhaps, I would this year. I found a link with several ideas for teacher costumes. Let me know if you use one of the suggestions!

Every once in awhile I come across some cool stuff on Facebook for educators. I came across a website recommended by Free Technology for Teachers called ClassTools.Net. What caught my eye is a program called Fakebook. With Fakebook, students are able to personalize a “facebook” template and save it. The students are able to create a “fake” facebook page that demonstrates what acceptable use of social media should look like. Once they have created their fakebook, have them submit it as an artifact. As always, provide them with a rubric and an example.
I am always on the lookout for tools to help me teach appropriate behaviors online aka digital citizenship. Here are the links for the Classtools website and their Fakebook template.

Worksheet Wizard is a fantastic app for teachers and parents, who are working with young children, children who are not verbal, have difficulty writing, or are ESL. This app presents its created lessons on colors in many formats and difficulty levels. The app is extremely customizable and allows for material to be adapted to meet the user’s needs. This app allows for data tracking for 5 different students, and setting to be adjusted for each user. Also, you can create your own custom worksheets on any subject in a matter of a minute. You use your own photos, and write your own questions to cover whatever topic you need. You set the number of questions and answers, and it is very easy.
I found an interesting website which I am currently testing as I write this. The website is called PlanBook.com.
The features are great. The site provides drop down menus that include Minnesota (and other states) Common Core Standards. I teach technology and I can access ISTE standards too. First month is a free trial. You are not required to enter credit card information unless you decide you want to purchase it at the end of your trial. The price is reasonable – its an $11 a year subscription. It doesn’t hurt to check it out. Please let me know if you are going to use it. 🙂
