What a week we have been having at Prairie Elementary participating in the Hour of Code! The students have been creating lines and lines of code! The level of engagement has gone through the roof and their excitement for coding is phenomenal! The first part of the week the website for the K-5 curriculum has been too sluggish to use this week. I started looking around for backup websites and found two that I absolutely love. My students have been using Bot Logic this week. The students are having a blast learning how to solve the various puzzles with fierce determination. I have seen the level of collaboration grow immensely this past week. It is awesome to witness.
Another website I found is a Google product called Made with Code. They have some neat projects available for students and adults. The two I played with are Holiday Lights and Snowflakes The Holiday Lights allows me to decorate a Christmas tree with lights – changing the patterns, lighting, flow of pattern with different variables etc. Snowflakes is where one can select their images, various animations and variables to create individual works of art. I thought of the kaleidoscope when I finished making mine.
